2018 World Fencing Championship: ASA constantly supports FIS

The “2018 WUXI World Fencing Championship” which took place at the Crowne Plaza in Wuxi, near Shanghai (China) from 19th to 27th July, ended under the flag of success for Italy.

The Azzurri fencing team leaves the Asian country with a total of seven medals: four golds, two silvers and one bronze. Second place was taken by South Korea and the USA with the same booty (two gold medals, two silvers and three bronze ones).

“We are proud of the results achieved by our athletes – comments Roberto Marchesini, the ASAlaser Managing Director – and proud of once again standing at their side for this important event, supporting them with our therapeutic solutions, enabling them to tackle each match in the best possible physical condition”.

Successful collaboration between ASAlaser and the Italian Fencing Federation

WUXI 2018 therefore marks the continuation of the successful collaboration between ASAlaser and the Italian Fencing Federation, which began in 2008 at the Beijing World Championships, continued with the 2012 London Olympic Games and with the 2016 Budapest Grand Prix, as well as during numerous other leading sports events. In fact, the FIS physiotherapy team has been relying on Hilterapia® and MLS® Laser Therapy – officially adopted in 2016 – as members of the team in order to deal with the issues which commonly affect fencers, for the past ten years.

“Certainly, – Antonio Fiore, the FIS federal doctor, recalls in an interview given during the closure of the Beijing World Championships – the contribution of Hilterapia® was very important to tackle many instances. I remember for example the difficulties that Aldo Montano had to deal with from Beijing 2008 to London 2012: the muscle and tendon injuries which afflicted this extraordinary athlete were tackled by means of this therapy too. HILT® was a precious support also for the problem to the Achilles tendon which affected Valentina Vezzali during the last edition of the Games: a very serious damage which occurred right on the eve of the London competition”.

The ASAlaser therapies are therefore proved to be effective particularly when treating problems linked to fatigue or overuse of muscle, joint and capsular ligament components, common in professional sportspeople constantly on the move for recurrent training. Further proof is provided by the World Championship which has just ended, where the Mphi device for MLS® was available to the staff of the Italian Fencing Federation.

“ASAlaser&Fencing – concludes Marchesini – represents a winning combination, as is also shown by the podium results which have distinguished the Italian team from 2008 to date. We believe in the motto “never change a winning team” and intend to continue this mutually satisfactory journey”.
