It is called Ironman and it is a no-limits triathlon race, the sports competition that has won over many fans of physical activity consisting of tests with high physical and psychological impact.
Great preparation, physical endurance, and maximum mental strength are the basics required to start tackling as winners the competition in which the participants compete in high-adrenaline swimming, biking, and running.

A priority for completing the entire track is the ability to calibrate the training to avoid stops caused by fatigue or excessive exercise.

“Anyone wishing to take up the challenge of this type of competition – Ivano Vellucci, a physiotherapist at Studio Galeno in Rome, but also an aficionado who takes part in Spartan Races, explains – should first of all habitually carry out prevention activities, in order to avert the onset of possible complications.”

“Green light then for sessions of stretching, joint mobility and physiotherapy treatments with laser therapy which can be a valid aid to avoid some muscle-osteo-joint traumas.
By applying it, for example, on the most important muscle chains, it can improve their elasticity allowing the athlete the possibility to continue training.

If, despite having carried out the preparation, an injury should occur, Laser Therapy is also an extremely valid support for resolving this: by helping tissue drainage and accelerating the healing process, its use is beneficial for tendinitis, muscle contractures, muscle and ligament lesions”.

Laser therapy is the ideal therapy to train to become an Ironman. Useful for reducing tendon inflammation and loosening contractures, it is a godsend to constantly do swimming, biking, and running sessions, avoiding stops due to overuse.

In the case however that the problems should be created by overtraining, Vellucci has no doubts:

“Never improvise: the best way to manage this is to first understand the mistakes that generated these, relying on physiotherapy and athletic preparation professionals. Once the origin of the problems has been understood, they will set up customised programs based on the needs and the fitness condition of the athlete”.
