Magnetotherapy
Just from the first discoveries on electromagnetism, man thought of using the sources of magnetic filed for therapeutic purposes.
Only during the last 30 years, though, the therapeutically effective magnetic fields have been identified through clinical controlled studies.
They are low frequency and low intensity pulsed magnetic fields that are indicated with the ELF (Extremely Low Frequency) acronym.
Such low frequencies (not greater than 100 Hz) and low intensities (not greater than 100G) are the base today of Magnetotherapy; a traditional, non-invasive treatment which is particularly indicated to stimulate fractures healing and to slow down the decrease of bone density caused by osteoporosis.
Magnetotherapy can be applied in a targeted fashion, aiming the application on specific anatomical districts, or in the total body modality, treating the whole organism to the beneficial effect of pulsed magnetic fields.
The first method is applied to localized pathologies, caused by trauma, overload, or to stimulate the healing of fractures.
Total Magnetotherapy, instead, is used to stimulate the recovery of the whole metabolism and can slow down the loss of bone mineral substance due to osteoporosis.
Magnetotherapy is effective because ... continue»
